Center for Tobacco Control Research won Global Bridges 2014 Tobacco Dependence Treatment Award

       Recently, Center for Tobacco Control Research Zhejiang University School of Medicine has received an announcement that the research of our center named “Building Tobacco Treatment Capacity in Medical Universities and Affiliated Hospitals in China” won the Global Bridges 2014 Tobacco Dependence Treatment Award. This reward is dedicated to advancing effective tobacco dependence treatment and advocating for effective tobacco control policies in low-income countries. There are 20 programs awarded all over the world and our center is one of award recipients. The winners are as follows:

      Tobacco-smoking epidemic is a major problem of social and public health. Center for Tobacco Control Research Zhejiang University School of Medicine has been funded by World Health Organization and other international funds continuously since 2006 and completed many research projects. One of the projects, Building Advocacy Capacity for Tobacco Control, covers all provinces, municipalities and autonomous regions in China, involving more than 70 cities. Our center has published more than 30 international papers of public health population-related research .And several papers have been cited by the World Health Organization and other international organizations in their official and technical documents, such as " WHO report on the global tobacco epidemic ". The treatment of nicotine tobacco dependence can improve quit rates effectively, but the implementation in our country encounters many challenges. This project will explore and advocate the population-related treatment modalities and programs in China.
