Joan L. Bottorff, PhD, RN, FCAHS, FAAN is a professor in the School of Nursing, University of British Columbia’s Okanagan Campus, Canada. Dr. Bottorff is one of Canada’s leading scientists in the field of health behaviour. Currently she is the Director of Institute for Healthy Living and Chronic Disease Prevention at UBC. She has developed active research programs in tobacco control, cancer prevention and health promotion. Dr. Bottorff is well known for her expertise in qualitative research methods. She is the Editor-in-Chief of Global Qualitative Nursing Research, a leading qualitative research journal. Dr Bottorff is a high productive researcher and has published more than 250 papers and 34 book chapters. According to Google scholar, her publications have been cited more than 15,000 times.
